Along the way, they meet con-men "King" and "Duke" (Tony Randall and Mickey Shaughnessy) who find work on a riverboat and join the circus–neither the riverboat nor the circus were in Twain's book. Reluctantly, Huckleberry and Jim are drawn into the schemes of "King" and "Duke."

But Joey has other plans upon becoming invisible. A real "cheapie," but it's fun to watch.

But, as Kiochi plots revenge against Iwabuchi, Kiochi falls in love with Kieko just as Iwabuchi realizes who Kiochi really is.

But, Yancey realizes that becoming governor would mean he would play a role in defrauding the Indians of their land and mineral rights. He declines the offer, much to the dismay of Sabra.

Gort is killed in another crash, and Dallas looks for similarities between the two crashes. He suspects that the planes' design is the problem and that the designer, Nigel Pickering (Noel Willman), has been covering up the information that points to poor design. Is he correct, and can he prove it in order to clear Capt. Gort's name?

Back in prison, his ex-partners, wanting the money themselves, plan a prison break so that Johnny will lead them to the money. The plan works.

An Oscar was also presented for Best Writing, and the film was nominated for Best Picture and Music.

He commandeers a ship to bring 600 Jews into the newly partitioned Palestine just before the United Nations votes to make Palestine a Jewish state. Ari achieves victory, and now 30,000 more Jews relocate into the Holy Land. Sal Mineo received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor. One other nomination was received, and the film won an Oscar for Best Cinematography.
