Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death   1989         PG-13, 90 min. Genre: Comedy aka: Piranha Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death Director: J.F. Lawton   Cast: Shannon Tweed, Bill Maher, Karen Mistal, Adrienne Barbeau, Brett Stimely, Barry Primus, Jim McKrell, Paul Ross, Vicky Verner, Alan David Gelman   An avocado shortage has hit the country, and the government asks Professor Margo Hunt (Shannon Tweed), the head of Feminist Studies at a Southern California university, to help. A vicious tribe of Piranha Women, who kill and eat males, inhabits the California Avocado Jungle. Margo's job is to negotiate with the tribe. Her guide is Jim (Bill Maher—of "Politically Incorrect" fame). On the way they meet various challenges such as mean hippos and barracudas and also run across a tribe of wimpy men called Donnahews. A fun, though flawed, satire. Naturally, there are lots of scantily-clad women.
