  George Stroud (Ray Milland) is an editor for "Crimeways" magazine when he is assigned a story involving a murder (actually committed by his boss, Earl Janoth (Charles Laughton)). Despite Red Herring clues, Stroud outwits Janoth and solves the crime. This film was remade in 1987 as "No Way Out" with some added twists.
