  When a beautiful–but psychotic–rich woman, Diane (Jean Simmons), plots to kill her stepmother Catherine (Barbara O'Neil), ambulance driver Frank (Robert Mitchum) unwittingly becomes involved in the crime. Frank is hired as the family chauffeur, and Diane fixes the car so that it goes over a cliff, but the accident kills not only Catherine but Diane's father Charles (Herbert Marshall) as well. Frank and Diane are now charged with murder. In an effort to sway the jury, Diane's lawyer (Leon Ames) suggests Diane and Frank marry, they do, and are acquitted. After being freed, Frank realizes that he cannot be married to a murderess and tells Diane that he is leaving her. Not a good move because Diane now puts the car into reverse, they fall over a cliff, and hurtle to their deaths.

In the midst of the feuding, James and Pat grow apart, and James falls in love with schoolmarm Julie Maragon (Jean Simmons). By story's end, the Major and Hannassey have shot and killed each other, Julie and James are together on her ranch, and Pat and her ranch foreman (Charlton Heston) are living happily ever after. Burl Ives won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

An Oscar was also presented for Best Writing, and the film was nominated for Best Picture and Music.

  This film represents Laurence Olivier at his best starring as the melancholy Dane, Prince Hamlet. Soon after his father's death, Hamlet's mother, Queen Gertrude (Eileen Herlie), marries her brother-in-law Claudius (Basil Sydney). Now his father's ghost returns to speak to Hamlet and tells him that his own brother Claudius murdered him. He wants Hamlet to be kind to Gertrude but to kill Claudius. Hamlet vows to avenge his death and fakes madness to accomplish that goal. His acts lead to the end of several lives–including Claudius, Gertrude, Hamlet's chief counselor Polonius (Felix Almer) and Polonius' daughter Ophelia (Jean Simmons) who loves Hamlet, and, finally, Hamlet. There was a well-deserved Best Actor Oscar presented to Olivier. The film also won Oscars for Best Picture, Art Direction/Set Decoration, and Costume Design. Olivier also received a nomination for Best Director, and Simmons was nominated for Best Supporting Actress.

His marriage falls apart, and both Joe and Susan engage in separate love affairs. The marriage appears to be over, or is it? Followed by "Man at the Top."

  North and South I & II brought the Civil War era to life. this helped many US history students understand what was going on during this turmoil time. This should be a requirement for all US history classes that cover the Civil War era, even the pre Civil and post Civil War eras.

  This grand-scale film is the story of a Roman tribune, Marcellus (Richard Burton), whose duty is to ensure the crucifixion of Jesus.   This story begins when the slave, Spartacus (Kirk Douglas), is sold to Biatus (Peter Ustinov). But, the interference from Crassus and Gracchus does not deter Spartacus and the slaves from their march to freedom. Peter Ustinov won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, and Russell Metty won for Best Cinematography.
