Jerry Lee Lewis and his music in the 1950s are the subjects of this film, and includes Lewis' (Dennis Quaid) cousin Jimmy Swaggart (Alec Baldwin) as the Bible-thumping zealot. Lewis' unconventional lifestyle includes marrying his 13-year-old cousin, Myra (Winona Ryder), an act that begins his downfall when he is condemned as a pervert. Songs include "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On," "Real Wild Child," "Crazy Arms," and the title song "Great Balls of Fire!" to round out the hits.
