Based on the story told in Jimmy Dean's 1950's song, Dean plays retired Sheriff Cletus Morgan who travels across country to rescue his daughter who some think is in the car with Big Bad John Tyler (Doug English). Unknown to Cletus is that his nemesis, Charlie (Ned Beatty), has contracted for hired-guns to follow Cletus and then kill Big Bad John and Cletus' daughter.
